One of the most fun-filled functions of south asian wedding celebrations is the Mehndi or 'henna party' which usually takes place a couple of days before the wedding itself.  In the Pakistani culture, this function is traditionally held separately by the girl's side and the boy's side, although nowadays many families choose to throw a combined party where the bride and groom can both enjoy and partake in the ceremony.  The guests bring gifts of bangles, henna, fruit and sweets and during the event various celebratory customs are carried out.

Finding out that you’re going to be an aunt is such an amazing feeling, especially when the person delivering the news happens to be one of your closest friends…  Therefore when the time came to organise Aminah’s baby shower, I was finally able to put all my excitement and energy to good use!

The year 2013 will forever remain a special year for me: the year of my best friend's wedding. Like most girls, we had been planning for this significant milestone well in advance (since childhood), in turn focussing on the key aspects of the event: The Dress, The Photographer, The Make-Up.  All three deserve to be capitalised.
